How to change Potty Whiz settings

Potty Whiz keeps its settings in four places: the side menu, the Settings screen, My Account, and each child's Settings tab.

The side menu

Tap the gear icon at the top right of the home screen to open the side menu.

  • My Account: your profile, your family teams and syncing. When you are signed out, it takes you to sign in.
  • Sign out, or Sign In when you are signed out.
  • Got An Invite?: join a family member's account with their invite. You need to be signed in.
  • Unlock More Features!: see the Premium plans. If you bought Premium yourself, it says Unlocked! instead; tap it to manage your subscription.
  • The language picker: tap the language shown and pick another one. Potty Whiz switches right away.
  • Settings: the app settings described below.
  • Potty Training Tips: read our potty training articles.
  • Products We Love: products we recommend for potty training.
  • What's New: news and updates about Potty Whiz.
  • Watch App (iPhone) or Wear OS App (Android): how to set up Potty Whiz on your watch.
  • Help: ask a question or contact us.
  • Share Potty Whiz!: send the app to a friend.
  • Rate Our App: opens Potty Whiz in the App Store or Google Play.
  • Our Apps: our other apps for families.
  • Follow us on Facebook and Follow us on Instagram.
  • Legal: our Privacy policy and Terms of Service.

The Settings screen

Open the side menu and tap Settings.

  • Measurement Units: Imperial (fl oz) or Metric (mL) for drink amounts. The default is Imperial.
  • Use 24-hour time format: show times as 18:00 instead of 6:00 PM. Off by default.
  • Sound Effects: play a sound when you save an activity and during celebrations. On by default.
  • Sync Media Only On Wi-Fi: when on, videos wait for a Wi-Fi connection before they upload. Off by default.
  • Manage Storage: see how much space photos and videos use on this phone, and free some up. See Manage Storage below.
  • Floating Assistant Button: show the Assistant button on your child's screen. When it is off, open the Assistant from the Insights tab. On by default.
  • Potty Training Tips: get a potty training tip as a notification at 8:00 AM on Saturdays and Sundays. On by default. Turn it off to stop these notifications.
  • Appearance, under User Interface: Light, Dark or Automatic. Automatic is the default and follows your phone's light or dark mode.

The Potty Training Tips item in the side menu opens articles. The Potty Training Tips switch in Settings only controls the weekend tip notifications.

These settings, the language and Set As Default only change Potty Whiz on the phone you are using.

Manage Storage

  1. Open Settings and tap Manage Storage.
  2. Check Local Storage Usage for the space used by Images and Videos, and Sync Status for how many files are uploaded or still waiting.
  3. Choose how to free up space:
    • Turn on Cloud Storage Only to remove the copy on this phone automatically after each photo or video uploads.
    • Tap Offload All Synced Files to remove the phone copies of everything already uploaded.
    • Or choose a time under Offload files older than: (3 months, 6 months, 12 months or 2 years).
  4. Tap Yes to confirm.

Offloaded photos and videos stay in your account and load from the cloud when you open them, so you need an internet connection to see them. Files that haven't uploaded yet always stay on your phone. Photos and videos only upload when you are signed in.

My Account

Open the side menu and tap My Account. You need to be signed in.

  • Your profile: tap your name to change your First Name, Last Name or photo, then tap Save. Your Email Address can't be changed here; tap the copy icon next to it to copy it.
  • My Team: the people you invited into your account.
  • Other Teams: the family accounts you joined. See How to manage family members and their access.
  • Synchronize: shows the Last Sync: time. Tap the round sync button to sync now. Tick Re-Sync all data first to download all your data again. See I have missing data or my app is not up to date.
  • The three dots at the top right: Edit opens your profile, and Delete deletes your account. See How to delete your Potty Whiz account.

A child's Settings tab

These settings are for one child. Tap the child on the home screen, then tap the Settings tab.

  • Set As Default: turn it on to open this child automatically when you launch the app.
  • Potty / Habits: switch between the potty activities and the habit activities.
  • The switch next to each activity: turn an activity off to hide it when you log for this child.
  • To change the order, press and hold an activity, then drag it up or down. The home screen widget shows the activities at the top of this list: 3 on iPhone and 4 on Android.
  • Add New Activity: create your own activity, such as a reward or a routine. This needs Premium. Tap the pencil next to an activity you created to edit or delete it. See How to create custom activities.

Troubleshooting

  • I still get weekend tips: open the side menu, tap Settings, and turn off Potty Training Tips. The side menu item with the same name only opens articles.
  • My settings are different on my other phone: app settings, the language and Set As Default are saved on each phone.
  • "Sync Error:" under Synchronize means the last sync failed. Check your internet connection and tap the sync button again.
  • There's a star next to Add New Activity: your own activities need Premium. See What's free and what's premium in Potty Whiz.
